Come out for a bike ride with us on over 100 annual rides and enjoy the benefits of group riding. You'll be glad you signed on for both the fun and fitness.
Chilkoot Velo offers enthusiast riders a wide variety of paces and distances. Maybe you want to ride at a conversational pace and focus on the social aspects of riding or perhaps you want to do a fitness ride at a moderate pace. We have a ride for you!
You are also invited to join any 'competive' rides knowing that they are typically faster “drop rides”, and they expect riders to be able to repair their own bikes.
STANDING WEEKLY RIDES
These rides start at the beginning of May and run weekly through the end of September. Morning rides begin and end at the Chilkoot Cafe & Cyclery (826 4th St S, Stillwater, MN 55082). Locations of evening rides vary. Please come 10-15 minutes ahead of time to be prepared to ride at scheduled times.
WEEKDAY MORNING SOCIAL/COFFEE RIDES
These rides occur Tuesdays through Fridays starting at 7:30 AM. Riders need to get on a text list to be notified if that day’s riding is happening. These easy rides typically last approximately one hour and end back at the Coffee Paw Cafe. After the ride, stick around for coffee and to chat with other members.
TUESDAY EVENING RIDES
The rides are approximately 25 miles and average 14 mph or slower. These rides are intended to be casual and relaxing.
In the past these rides had been 'women-led', and could be again if we find some willing leaders.
SATURDAY MORNING GROUP RIDES
These rides are for all members. Depending on your capabilities, skill level, and willingness, you may join Group A, B, C, or D on Saturdays. Groups vary by speed, distance, & ability. Ride routes are different depending on the group too.
Group A: > 45 miles @ > 18 mph (Typically Race Riders)
Group B: 25 - 45 miles @ 16 - 18 mph
Group C: 15 - 25 miles @ 14 - 16 mph
Group D: < 15 miles @ < 14 mph
SUNDAY MORNING SOCIAL/COFFEE RIDE
These rides begin at 10 AM on Sunday morning. The rides are approximately 25 miles and average between 14 - 16 mph. Come an hour before the ride, or stay after, eat breakfast or lunch, or drink a cup of coffee...
